How to advance gender equality throughout the legal profession (English)

During this practical session, we will dive into the specific challenges faced by women in the legal profession including sharing of approaches to target setting in the legal industry. This session will also provide a discussion feeding into “50/50 by 2030” – a global project by the IBA to uncover the root causes of the lack of gender parity at the most senior levels of the legal profession, identify whether diversity initiatives introduced to address this disparity are having any impact, and to provide practical conclusions and guidance to the profession.

How to Advance Women's Leadership in Male-Dominated Industries

Some of the fastest-growing industries are also the most male-dominated ones. And even when gender equality is prioritized, progress often tends to not be evenly spread, with barriers for women persisting in certain corporate functions. During this session, female leaders from various industries will address how they personally tackled stereotypes and share their solutions to questions like: How can you set realistic but ambitious targets for women's leadership when female workforce participation is extremely low? How do you ensure flexibility when working from home is not an option? How can you anticipate backlash and engage male leadership and colleagues in meaningful ways?
